CROSSROADS AND CHAOS

Happy September and welcome fall, RTG family. I love this season of transition. It begins with this month of September that, by no coincidence, holds the anniversary dates of 9/19/18 and 9/19/21, when I was born again and RTG was launched. A month when I stopped hanging out with Jim & Jack from the bar and began hanging out with my dear friend Jesus, the one and only who is “always on time”. He turned the whys into what’s and the kaos into opportunity and peace at every crossroad. This path was made possible only through complete surrender, repentance, and 100% trust in the Lord; a choice that the nation of Judah chose not to make even after over 40 years of labor and love from one of their greatest prophets, Jeremiah—Jeremiah 6:16 (NKJV): “Thus says the Lord: ‘Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” Over 40 years! DUDE! God is patient and holy… He has delayed judgment and appealed to His people to repent before it is too late. Much like the lesson at the potter’s house demonstrated, a marred vessel can be restored while still wet, but once dried… it is too late.
Fortunately for us, our clay is still wet and can be sculpted if we are willing to ask for and walk in the old path where the good way is. So stand in the crossroads and see—really look and consider and think about what we’re doing. Is a heart change needed? God understands our crossroads and wants us to figure it out together with Him in His ways. He also knows the journey won’t be easy and there will be kaos and adversity. But we know He has overcome the world and will never give us more than we can handle. (John 16:33; 1 Corinthians 10:13)
How we respond to the kaos and adversity is crucial. So long as we adhere to God’s ways and abide in Him, we can turn kaos into opportunity and peace. The key is “not to ask why, but what.” “What am I supposed to learn?” is the approach for value and worth. So make the ask and listen. Then, obey His voice and be doers of His word. It does no good to hear and not do. So be doers today, not tomorrow, and walk in it, where you will find soul rest and peace.
