That’s right, RTG family… Own it! This phrase is applicable to so many scenarios and situations we encounter in life. Generally speaking, we want to own our own home, car, business, etc., etc., etc. We game plan our lives to succeed, so we can provide for our family and loved ones, and so we can enjoy life in all its glory. And, to a degree, there is nothing wrong with this. We just need to be mindful of where we come from and who puts the breath of life in each and every one of us. If we fail to do so, everything becomes meaningless, hollow, and fleeting. I can only speak for myself and my journey, as I know this to be true. However, those truths are also biblically backed and have withstood the test of time.

As of this moment in my amazing morning, on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, that’s all I got. But, I gotta say, it’s been a fantastic start to my day where I began with prayer, a smile, and of course, air in my lungs. I woke up rested and at complete peace, knowing today is a good day to be Larry. Then, my 65 lb. yellow lab, “Dude,” came to join me on my 5’x7’ piece of luxurious fake lawn in the basement that I use for prayer, putting, and now, a wrestling mat for me and him. Talk about happy us! Thank you, Jesus, for this September morning that begins a month where I started a new life of sobriety and joy with the King of Kings seven years ago. By no coincidence, I have also been enjoying 256 amazing athletes “unconditionally competing” for the 2025 US Open Singles Tennis Championship. This is by far the most mentally challenging sporting event I have ever experienced.

The most challenging event in my life was September 19th, 2018, when I hit rock bottom from the sin of addiction and denial. After hitting rock bottom, I decided to “own it”. I took ownership of my sin, then completely surrendered and had faith that it would be met with God’s mercy, understanding that mercy is actually “not getting” what I deserve, which was quite refreshing.

We know from Romans 3:23-24, “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

Just as other obstacles, problems, and issues in life, sin will always exist and will need to be dealt with. The good news is that we have all been washed with the blood of Jesus, thus purging our lives of sin. Actually, this is indeed great news, yeah? It’s not, by any means, a free pass to sin or run from your sin. We can’t outrun our sin, EVER. Knowing that sin will find you out and that it cannot be hidden, this is a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge our transgressions and unconditionally confess them all. Cast yourself on the mercy of God. Then, ask Jesus to put the past behind you, clearing your path for Him to cleanse, restore, and use you.

This has been a fun write for me, RTG family. Thank you. It is a very condensed lesson I heard at Calvary Aurora on Psalms 51:4-14. I just try to combine my love for Jesus, sports, and competing to spread the word and joy of Jesus. Together, let’s compete in the name of Jesus as He works to cleanse, restore, and use us, and please don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the journey.

Until next time,

Much love and be blessable,

Larry
