SLOW DOWN AND SEE

Originally, I planned to title this simply “Slow Down.” Then, upon further review, I realized that we all have a different pace, and it really is a matter of perspective. Ultimately, it will always come down to God’s speed, which is also an expression of good wishes to a person starting a journey, or “may God help you prosper.” Something I did not know until just now! Go figure, RTG family. Once again, he’s a funny guy!

My original plan was to focus on three months of my summer journey to compete in as many volleyball and bowling tournaments as possible. Overall, it was an amazingly joyful and successful journey. However, in the final volleyball tournament of the season, my body broke down a bit, and I had to retire from a match that we were in complete control of. Up 18-10 and three points away from moving to the quarterfinals, something went wrong with my left calf and Achilles tendon. Throughout this span, my wife kept telling me to “slow down” as I continued to rush from work to volleyball and bowling, and back to work with no intention of slowing down until the season was over. I was enjoying my journey, but did not take time to truly see just how amazing it was.

Funny thing is… I have a giant chalk wall where I consistently write down notable phrases and scripture to keep me in system. Phrases like, “pause and release”, and “have fun and don’t play scared,” along with others used in previous articles that allow me to reflect and correct course when needed. I literally see these multiple times every single day. At least, I thought I did.

But wait, there’s more! I wrote down one of my favorites a couple of months ago. It was from a dear friend of mine. “Hey, Larry… SLOW DOWN… Love, Jesus!” As it turns out, I would look and read, but not actually slow down enough to see and appreciate the message I literally wrote to myself.

Fortunately, with my experience came hindsight and opportunity. Opportunity for growth and preparation to navigate everyday life. That’s what prompted me to write my “dear friend’s” message on the wall in the first place. I needed to slow down enough to see through the noise and focus on the truth that only God can provide. It is my prayer that we all slow down appropriately and see God’s writing on the wall as we continue our journey together.

Most of all! “Slow Down and See” all God’s glory and infinite gifts that surround each and every one of us. And please, always remember and never forget these two things: You are one of these gifts, and it is a good day to be you.

Until next time,

Much love and be blessable,

Larry
